We all have a role to play in creating a healthy setting for sport. SafeSport helps raise awareness about misconduct in sport, promote open dialogue, and provide training and resources. When we work as a team, we can build a game plan to make sport safe―for everyone.
Recognize: Learn about the different types of misconduct in sport.
Reduce: Develop a strategy to ensure athlete well-being.
Respond: Know how to take action before there's a problem.
The USOPC has mandated that each National Governing Body (NGB) prepares and instills SafeSport programming.
USA Volleyball is a forerunner with this training and full organization rollout plan and as a member region, the Iowa Region is also fully invested in this program as well.
USA Volleyball requires the reporting of sexual misconduct by or of any member and strongly encourages reporting of any concerns related to SafeSport. Please read over the Report Abuse information to fill out a Report Abuse Form.
The Iowa Region will recognize, adopt, and enforce any penalties imposed by the US Center for Safesport, USA Volleyball, or the USA Volleyball Ethics & Eligibility Committee.
All members that are at least 18 years old and associated with a Jr Team (Region Office Staff, Board Members, Region Program Staff, Referees, Tournament Directors, Club Directors, Team Reps, Refs and Scorekeepers, Chaperones, Coaches of junior teams and all Players) must all complete the certification course.
The only athletes that must take SafeSport are those 18 and older.
To take the training go to your USA membership "view details" area in the MMS and click on the link to take the certification.
All members who need SafeSport Certification must re-certify every year. After taking the Core Course your initial year, you only need to take the refresher every season.
